Assistant Sheriff Kelly Martinez oversees the Law Enforcement Services Bureau. The Law Enforcement Services Bureau provides general and specialized law enforcement operations including patrol, traffic, general and specialized investigations, crime prevention, crime laboratory services, crime analysis, criminal intelligence, narcotics enforcement, emergency services, licensing and communications.

Kelly Martinez began her career with the Sheriff's Department in 1985 where she worked at both the Las Colinas and Descanso Detention Facilities. In 1988 she moved to patrol operations where she worked at the Fallbrook Substation. She was later assigned to investigations and worked street narcotics, gangs and several intelligence related assignments. She promoted to sergeant in 2007, where she was assigned to San Marcos Patrol, the Criminal Intelligence Detail and Internal Affairs. In 2011, Kelly promoted to lieutenant and completed assignments at the Communications Center, Encinitas Station, Valley Center Substation and the Narcotic Task Force. Upon promotion to Captain in 2014, she was assigned as the Alpine Station/Rural Enforcement Detail Commander and then as the Special Assistant to Sheriff Gore. Kelly was promoted to Commander in April of 2017 and Assistant Sheriff in November of 2017.

Kelly is a native San Diegan who is married to Pete Martinez. Their son Adam is also a native to San Diego and continues to live and work in the area. Kelly and Pete are committed to community outreach and spend much of their off-time working on neighborhood projects. They count boating and travel among their favorite activities.
