The blue-uniformed
Community Service Officers perform a number of valuable services
for the Traffic Division in the City of Vista. They assist with
traffic control, parking enforcement, man the radar trailers and
perform other duties, particularly as they relate to "cold
crimes." Their work on such non-violent crimes as bicycle
theft and shoplifting enable patrol deputies to pursue more serious
matters.
Also assisting
the Traffic Division is the Senior Volunteer
Patrol. They are particularly active in shopping center patrols
to enforce handicapped parking regulations. Vigorous enforcement
and heavy fines imposed have seen a steady decline in these violations.
Local fines for violating handicapped parking rules are: Vista
$340.00, and the unincorporated area $325.00.
