Neighborhood Watch/Community
Watch:
Neighbors making a cooperative effort to watch for and report crimes
and suspicious activity is one of the most powerful deterrents to burglary.
Through the Neighborhood Watch Program neighbors can meet periodically
with a Crime Prevention Specialist to discuss burglary prevention and
other concerns of the neighborhood and community.
Residential & Commercial Security Checks:
Crime Prevention Specialists have been trained to look at your home,
business, church, or school through the eyes of a burglar. Because of
this, they are able to make specific recommendations for points of vulnerability.
You will be advised of security measures for your home that are practical
and cost-effective. Commercial consultations not only enhance physical
security, but also advise you of additional crime prevention measures.
Operation Identification:
As part of a security check, Crime Prevention Specialists will show
you how to engrave your valuables such as TVs and stereos with your
California Driver's License number. Window decals will identify you
as an Operation Identification member. You will not only help to deter
theft, but also aid law enforcement in the recovery of your lost or
stolen items.
Personal Safety:
A selection of Personal Safety presentations is available for ages from
preschool through senior citizen. Topics include both safety at home
and away from home.
Children's Programs:
There are many programs for children. The popular Talking Patrol Car
is an ideal introduction to law enforcement services for younger children.
McGruff, the Crime Dog, enjoying widespread recognition and acceptance,
delivers tips on safety, proper use of 9-1-1, and promotes crime prevention
in entertaining ways.
Senior Alert:
Crime impacts seniors financially, physically and emotionally, affecting
both sense of security and well being. Additionally, criminals may perceive
seniors as more vulnerable. However, through awareness, you can help
deter burglary, become less of a target for street crimes, and avoid
bunco schemes.
Cons, Fraud & Swindles:
Estimates of just the direct costs of fraud are in excess of $40 billion
annually. Consumers and business people face bait-and-switch, home improvement
inspection, door-to-door sales, charitable solicitations, and service
& repair frauds. Learn to identify and avoid being victimized by
these crimes.
Robbery:
Awareness is the best preventative measure against robbery. A special
program for businesses promotes awareness and other specific precautions.
Especially important are discussions relating to behavior during and
after a robbery.
Business Alert:
Through Business Alert, the Crime Prevention Specialist can help to
provide you with the knowledge and tools to make your business and commercial
areas a safer and more secure place to work and conduct business. This
program offers several training options, after the basic orientation,
including prevention of burglary, robbery, shoplifting, internal theft,
and bad checks and fraud.
Crime Free Multi Housing Program:
Crime Free Multi Housing (CFMH) is a proven technique for keeping illegal
activity out of rental property. CFMH is a unique coalition partnering
law enforcement agencies, rental property owners, managers, and tenants.
CFMH is a voluntary, solution-oriented certification program
