COMMANDER DON FOWLER
Commander Don Fowler manages the Court Services Bureau which provides security services for the San Diego Superior Courts at their eight respective locations and at the County Administration Center. The Bureau also manages the Civil Office and Field Services Unit who prepare and serve civil processes and enforce court orders.
He additionally serves on the following committees; Awards Committee, Critical Incident Review Board, Honorary Deputy Sheriff’s Association Board, Information Technology Policy & Procedures Committee, Sheriff’s Leadership Committee and Sheriff’s Operational Procedures Committee.
Commander Fowler joined the Sheriff’s Department in 1983 after serving four years as a police officer for the City of Imperial Beach, CA. As a Deputy Sheriff, he worked Detentions, Law Enforcement, Traffic, and Training Division. Upon promotion to Sergeant in 1990, he worked Detentions, Law Enforcement, Traffic, Emergency Services and Training Division. In 1996, he was promoted to Lieutenant and was assigned Detentions, Law Enforcement and Community Oriented Policing.
He was promoted to Captain in 2007 and assigned to the Encinitas Patrol Station that serves the cities of Encinitas, Solana Beach, Del Mar and the unincorporated community of Rancho Santa Fe. In 2010, he was assigned to the Sheriff’s Personnel Division and promoted to Commander in 2012.
Commander Fowler attended Point Loma Nazarene College majoring in Pre-Law and Business Administration and holds a Lifetime Teaching Credential in Criminal Justice Administration.
