The Traffic Division will conduct sobriety checkpoints during a thirteen-month period. That time period could encompass three "You Drink & Drive. You Lose" statewide and national mobilization periods during an 18 day period for December 17, 2004, - January 3, 2005, an 18-day period for August 19, 2005, - September 5, 2005, and an additional 18-day period for December 16, 2005, - January 2, 2006, as well as checkpoints outside of the mobilization periods. The Traffic Division is also responsible for traffic enforcement in the City of Santee including writing citations for moving violations, parking violations and mechanical vehicle violations. The Traffic Division does directed patrol in areas where complaints have been received regarding traffic related problems such as chronic speeders, reckless drivers, people running red lights, parking violations etc. In addition to their normal duties, the Traffic Division responds to various events in Santee such as the 4th of July Fireworks Display, Autumn Art Festival, the annual A.Y.S.O. Soccer tournament, which brings a large increase in traffic and parking problems around the school soccer fields, and any other community activities requested by the city. |
