Services - School Resource Officers

 

The School Resource Officer Deputy acts as the direct liaison between law enforcement and the City of Santee, Santee Unified School District and the Grossmont Unified School District who contract for this position.

The School Resource Officer investigates, prepares and submits reports for the criminal prosecution of property crimes, narcotics, and other criminal offenses involving students and employees. The deputy assists school district officials with Education Code violations, truancy, and security at school functions (both on and off campus). The deputy also assists with student hearings submitted to the District and County Boards of Education. Additionally the deputy provides educational presentations on drug, alcohol, and gang awareness to parents, students, teachers and school employees, and may provide mediation between parents and students. The deputy responds to law enforcement and civil emergencies, attends patrol briefings, and establishes a liaison with the District Attorney's office and other local law enforcement agencies.
