The Rural
Law Enforcement Division of the San Diego Sheriff's Department
covers 2,263 square miles in San Diego County. The northern portion
of the Division is bordered on the west by Valley Center and Ramona,
on the north by Riverside County, and on the east by Imperial
County. The southern portion of the Division is bordered on the
west by Alpine, Spring Valley, and Jamul, on the south by the
United States/Mexican Border, and on the east by Imperial County.
The northern and southern areas of the Division meet up in the
areas of Rancho Cuyamaca and Mt. Laguna.
A lieutenant
who directly supervises four sergeants commands the Division.
The sergeants serve as substation commanders in Campo, Pine Valley,
Julian, and Ranchita. Outlaying offices include Borrego Springs,
which falls under the Ranchita command, and Boulevard, which is
in the Pine Valley command. Five civilian staff provides support
to the Division.
