The Lemon Grove Sheriff's Station
provides law enforcement patrol services for the incorporated City of Lemon
Grove and the unincorporated communities of Spring Valley, Rancho San Diego,
Jamul, Mount Helix and Casa de Oro. In order to accomplish the task of
providing customer services to the 132,000 residents in the Command's 114
square mile area, fifty-six patrol deputies, six sergeants and one lieutenant
are assigned to patrol operations.
There is an average of 11 units
per shift, each of which is assigned to a geographical "beat" area.
These assignments are stabilized enabling the deputies to become familiar with
the residents of their "beat" and with the problems in the area. The
"beat " system is a cornerstone of the Community Oriented Policing
concept that requires the interaction of neighborhood residents with law
enforcement working in concert to resolve and maintain "quality of life"
issues and to create an environment safe from crime.
