Services - COPPS Support Unit

The Community Policing Support Unit is comprised of one lieutenant and three corporals. The mission of this unit is to further the Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving Philosophies, Strategies, and Management Styles throughout the Sheriff's Department. This mission is accomplished by providing education and support for various projects, programs, and activities.

A primary function of the unit is the enhancement of problem solving through collaborative methods. Areas included among these functions are problem recognition, analysis, resolution, and assessment. The COPPS Support Unit also provides support and education through the following programs or projects: Abatement Issues, Landlord Tennant Training, Citizens Academies, Kidzwatch Academies, Community Forums, Geographical Information Systems for Analysis, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design, Every 15 Minutes, POP TRACK, School Emergency Response Program, and numerous other activities.
